Recently Googles take-over-the-world-spam "feature" hit me. I was logged into my Google mail and a friend wanted to log in to Youtube. When he clicked 'Log in' Youtube automatically logged in with my google user. After my friend logged out, logged in with his account and logged out again it would still be logged in as me.
I don't want this. I don't want to use any of the features on Youtube other than watching videos. What's worse was that it was my work account that was logged in, so I could potentially promote something by accident (click spasms) which could make a bad my employee look bad.
Luckily I found a solution for Firefox: https://productforums.google.com/d/msg/youtube/CjDZpPLV_vM/TrauzcmMdCMJ
- Go to Preferences -> Privacy -> Remove cookies for a single site.
- Search for youtube and delete all of them.
Done.
Some people are saying that it's a free service so Google can do what they want, but I disagree. We pay for the services by supplying personal information. This is a high price to me. Google just makes me want to switch more instead of making me use their products. I will not create a Youtube channel or start commenting. I will watch videos. There is absolutely no reason for Google to log me in, since they can log my every move anyway with Google Analytics.
